Labster created a set of 30 undergraduate biology virtual reality lab experiences covering the subjects of cell and molecular biology, ecology and physiology. They are designed to help the students improve access to labs on campus and virtually, scale their biology program, and provide exposure to emerging technology. Using virtual reality, students can participate in lab experiences on campus or remotely.

AR Baby / Tankespil
“AR Baby”: using AR and image recognition this app allows future parents to see the size of their fetus on the table through out the 40 weeks of pregnancy. The aim is to let the becoming fathers be a greater part of the new family, standing on the sideline of the pregnancy. The app is developed by Aske Sønderby Knudsen, who was on the sideline, when his wife was waiting their daughter in 2017.

VR Haptic Feedback / Guido Makransky
University of Copenhagen VR is increasingly being used for complex learning that would otherwise require access to elaborate learning facilities. Using VR for learning has the potential to both democratize, increase the availability of, and also heavily reduce the cost of education. The objective of this virtual environment is to master pipetting: the virtual lab simulation is designed to introduce subjects to pipetting in biochemical laboratories. The virtual environment is being used to do research in how to optimally design interactions within virtual learning environments.

The VR Archive for Perfomance Art / Live Art Denmark
Since we founded Liveart.dk in 2004, we have pondered how to best document performance art. We have studied photo, video and other media. Virtual Reality can capture the room, the mood, the audience’s relationship with the work, and actions that take place in multiple locations in the room. When you (re)experience the works with VR glasses, you can look in all directions and focus on what you think is exciting. You can watch the recording again and focus on other details. Just like a live experience, the experience of the documentation can now be unique, too. The potential of VR documentation for performance art can hardly be overestimated. Performance art has always been limited by its special conditions. It’s difficult to experience the art form live, to document it, to compare and analyze works. With our VR Archive, we are building a platform where researchers, artists, students and others can experience performance artworks as if they were present.

Escape Room / RUC Student Project
‘Escape Room’ is a student-built project during the spring of 2019. The game is an attempt to create a virtual escape room by presenting the player with hidden puzzles to be solved to end the game. The game is built with the game engine Unity3D and has a little bit of 3D modeling done by students.

Biology & Energy Taxes / TimestoryVR
TimeStory will show 2 Virtual Reality learning experiences.: “Learn about energy taxes”. New employees in the Danish tax administration department can through VR training learn what to look for at a company inspection. ” Get close to insects ” A VR prototype for VR biology learning. Through VR you can get close to different kind of insects. As TimeStory offers VR workshops, they will also show examples of how students themselves can learn to make 360 VR with interactions.

Tidslommen / Museum Vestsjælland
Tech demo of a virtual reality experience of the Korsør Fortification Tower in the Middle Ages! Museum Vestsjælland has, together with animators, developed a 360 degrees animation showing what the Korsør Fortification Tower looked like in the Middle Ages. The 360-animation is a part of our cultural heritage app “Tidslommen”. We have since developed it into a virtual reality demo experience for Oculus Rift as a starting point for further development of virtual reality cultural heritage learning experiences for our museum guests. As a bonus you will get an introduction to our augmented and virtual reality based cultural heritage app “Tidslommen”. The app is published.

MeetInVR / Francois Schumer
Combine the convenience of online meetings with the interactivity of face-to-face meetings: meet in virtual workspaces where you can collaborate, create and feel truly together with your colleagues! MeetinVR enables your company to have powerful meetings in interactive VR spaces. It enables activities which are impossible or very hard to do remotely such as to present and review products and 3D models, brainstorm, sketch, mind-map, prototype and have team-building activities. All of these while interacting in a natural and easy to learn way.

VR Training for Assembly and Engineering / Aarhus University
Aaarhus University’s Dept. of Business Development and Technology, Extended Reality and Robotics Lab will show two Immersive Learning demos in Open Space:
a) VR training for assembly tasks – A VR enviroment that users are trained to perform the assembly of a 3d-cube and b) Immersive education for engineer students – Health and Safety training for a robotic arm (360′ videos)

Eye-tracking & 3D Visualization / Tobii Pro
Tobii Pro VR Analytics Software is a tool enabling eye tracking data collection and analysis from 3D virtual environments. Within the technologies Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR), collectively referred to as X-Reality (XR), there is an unfulfilled potential that can be realized in Danish industrial companies. The Digital-Reality.dk project will therefore spread awareness of the opportunities that lie within X-Reality (XR), thereby helping companies to secure their business foundation through innovative thinking and the use of XR technologies.

In this seminar, we aim to focus on the domains of learning and experience, as integral parts of almost anyVirtual Reality-based activity.
