The solar system demo represents the relative positions and movements of the planets in our solar system in an immersive 3D virtual environment. The user(-s)\/player(-s) navigate in space by their moving their bodies and making gestures in the physical space, which are captured by the Kinect tracking device. These physical movements can be translated to the movements of a spaceship in the virtual environment. As they get closer to a planet (or a large object floating in space), the interface begins presenting detailed information about its structure, facts and figures about its size and rotation, as well as the history of planetary observation. In the further development of this project, one goal is to allow landing on each planet and simulating navigation on their surfaces to gather information (i.e. driving the Curiosity Mars Rover to collect samples). The overall aim is to support experience-based learning of a particular scientific subject by allowing the students to collaborate by playing in an augmented learning space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
